William H Painter Funeral Directors has been providing funeral services in the Birmingham area since 1907 when William H Painter, the owner of a horse-drawn taxi business, was helping a friend who asked to be taken to the nearest undertaker. William offered to undertake the funeral himself, subsequently deciding to develop and grow these funeral services from his tiny cottage in Church Road, South Yardley.
Today, our much larger premises can be found just a short walk away on Yardley Road, close to Yardley Crematorium, and we now serve communities across Birmingham and Solihull from our local network of branches in Castle Bromwich, Chelmsley Wood, Kings Heath, Kingstanding, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield.
Our Yardley Road premises still retains some of its historical features, with old stables and a blacksmith’s workshop for shoeing horses, although now a modern fleet of Mercedes hearse and limousines provides comfortable and elegant transport.
As an established local business, we are still actively engaged in supporting and improving the wider funeral industry through local and national associations and have produced two presidents of the National Association of Funeral Directors and six presidents of the Birmingham Funeral Directors Guild. In addition, Painter family members and employees have become Freemen of the City of London, a Councillor and Alderman of the City of Birmingham. We are also heavily involved in local community and charity activities.
At William H Painter Funeral Directors we offer a range of funeral options with transparent pricing, plus an affordable prepaid funeral plan, Choice. The plan provides an opportunity to arrange and pay for a funeral in advance, protecting your family from rising costs and uncertainty about your wishes.
If you would like to discuss planning a funeral, or our Choice plan, we can meet you in our branch or arrange a home visit. Please contact us on 0121 706 1291 or by firstname.lastname@example.org.
