On the 23rd May our Knowle branch held a fund-raiser in memory of Michael Grainger hoping to raise both vital funds and awareness of heart related illness. A lovely day in Knowle with the community definitely showing their support for this worthy cause 100%. Our Funeral Arranger got into character as the Heart Research UK mascot Hartley Heart. There were even some double winners on the Tombola! Refreshmenst were provided and the cupcakes were kindly donated by Little Puddings Bakery, which proved extremely popular.
We are pleased to have helped raise £174.10 on the day.
The family are hoping to raise a total of £60,000 for an ECMO machine for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. An Extra-corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) machine is very similar to a heart-lung machine that is used to continue the supply of blood and oxygen while the heart is stopped, such as during open heart surgery.
Our last Michael Grainger fundraiser at Kings Heath was a great success too, so thank you to everyone for helping to support a worthy local cause.
