Valentine’s Day Memorial Service at Chelmsley Wood

On Friday 12th February between 12pm and 2pm, William H Painter at Chelmsley Wood Birmingham hosted a Valentine’s Day Memorial Service.

Those in attendance were greeted by Funeral Arranger Jeanette Husselbee on arrival to the branch where there was a memorial tree with tags for those who wanted to write personal messages of remembrance. . Jeanette had been encouraging families to stop by to contribute to the photo memory line up in the branch. During the blessing these photos and any bought in on the day were on display as Rev. Jackie Wilkinson shared the story of St Valentine and led everyone in a prayer.

At 1.00pm a balloon release and blessing led by Rev. Jackie Wilkinson took place in the Garden of Remembrance The backdrop to the service was music provided by Kimichi School.

Refreshments including Valentine cakes and sandwiches were served afterwards.

“It was a very special personal time, memorial stars on the tree, time of prayer, releasing balloons, the special orchestra, young and old together and of course wonderful food, all organised by Jeanette.

At a time when people can feel so vulnerable on their own leading up to Valentine’s Day without their loved ones, today was a day of love and comfort”. ( Rev. Jackie Wilkinson)
