William H Painter are proudly supporting the Grainger family, who are hoping to raise £60,000 for an ECMO machine for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital through a number of charity events.
On the 14th February 2015 our Kings Heath branch held a fund-raiser in memory of Michael Grainger hoping to raise both vital funds and awareness of heart related illness. Family and friends of the well-known and much loved business man, supported by Heart Research UK in the Midlands, are raising money to buy a special cardiac machine for use at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
The day was organised by team members from William H Painter, and Anne Grainger, wife of the late Michael Grainger.
Shoppers and passers-by were treated to the wonderful sounds of Scottish bagpipes played by Pipe Major Martin Hewins along with a charity tombola, tea, coffee and cakes
An Extra-corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) machine is very similar to a heart-lung machine that is used to continue the supply of blood and oxygen while the heart is stopped, such as during open heart surgery.
A Funeral Arranger from our Kings Heath branch got to know the family when she arranged Michaels funeral. She wanted to help the family to get closer to their target for the hospital equipment. Heart Research UK are kindly supporting this cause and we also have a volunteer who donnned their mascot costume Hartley Heart, taking donations.
We are proud to have helped raise a total of £247.50 toward the fund.
